B'More Engaged Collective
Students in the B'More Engaged Collective strengthen their community engagement skills and knowledge while working with justice-centered groups in Baltimore on community-based change.
B鈥橫ore Engaged Collective members commit to a year-long program to develop community leadership skills and engage with local community organizations. Students participate in semesterly retreats, weekly workshops and community visits to explore identity, leadership and social justice topics.
The Office for Social Impact supports Collective members in engaging with local community leaders, participating in community-identified projects and increasing knowledge of local social justice efforts in Baltimore.
Application for the B'More Engaged Collective
The application form for 2026-2027 will be available here in August.
Collective members participate in a one-day retreat and capacity-building workshops, participate in community visits with local organizations, and engage in reflection sessions.
The overall time commitment is approximately 60 hours over the course of the academic year. The Collective is work-study eligible. Students are paid hourly.
鈥� While we were working, members of the neighborhood came to the farm and talked with us about what we were doing. The 6th Branch demonstrated how important community is when engaging with local issues. 鈥�
鈥� This program helped me realize that there is more to environmental justice than just the environment itself. It involves racial, economic and many other factors that contribute to pursuing environmental justice. 鈥�
Learning Outcomes

- engage in goal setting and problem solving with diverse collaborators
- identify and adapt approaches to best counteract systems of oppression
- uphold one鈥檚 personal code of values and ethics while contributing to the public good
