The Jazz/Commercial Music Minor offers an inclusive and accessible entry point into the formal study of jazz/commercial music, supporting students from diverse musical and cultural backgrounds. Owed to its focus on performance, composition and improvisation the minor in jazz/commercial music is distinct from the music department鈥檚 existing minors in music, music industry and music technology.
Admission Requirements
Acceptance to the Jazz/Commercial Music Minor requires an audition and interview. Contact the music department for audition information. The audition requirements for the minor are similar but less rigorous than the jazz/commercial concentration in the Bachelor of Music (BM) degree, providing a more accessible option while still maintaining performance standards.
