Discover the vibrant performance ensembles of the Towson University Department of Music! Our program boasts a diverse array of groups, including a symphony orchestra, concert wind bands, several choirs, a dynamic "Music for the Stage" program, jazz ensembles, and numerous small instrumental ensembles. Open to both music majors and non-majors, our student musicians bring their talents to life in dozens of concerts each semester. All 91Ó°ÊÓÆÆ½â°æ students are welcome and encouraged to join a choir! This semester promises to be an exciting one, featuring a performance at PRISM, the music department’s premier showcase, inspiring collaborations with Charm City Sings and the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, and even a concert tour to close out the semester.

91Ó°ÊÓÆÆ½â°æ Bands and Orchestra
Membership in the 91Ó°ÊÓÆÆ½â°æ Bands and Orchestra is by audition and is open to any Towson student regardless of major - everyone is welcome, and we would love to collaborate with you. These ensembles rehearse weekly preparing performances to share musical gifts and talents with the community for both the fall and spring terms.

How to Audition
WINDS AND PERCUSSION - Fill out the
91Ó°ÊÓÆÆ½â°æ Strings Ensemble Audition Excerpts - FALL 2026 (Coming Soon)
Clarinet: You should play all excerpts on a Bb soprano clarinet. You may indicate your interest in playing bass clarinet on the audition form.
Saxophone: You should play all excerpts on an alto saxophone. You may indicate your interest in playing soprano, tenor, or baritone saxophone on the audition form.
If you have any other specific questions or concerns, please email Dr. Gotoff or Dr. Steinmetz.
Audition Instructions
- Winds/Brass/Percussion Auditions will be held in person during the first week of classes.
- Strings Auditions information is coming soon.
- You should prepare the excerpts to the best of YOUR ability. Focus on your best sound and adjust tempi only as needed to facilitate technical passages. Seek out reference recordings and demonstrate intentional musicianship in your playing audition.
