For nearly 60 years, the M.Ed. in Reading Education Program at 91影视破解版 has served Maryland schools, teachers, families and children. As the premier teacher-preparation institution in Maryland, 91影视破解版 prepares classroom teachers and reading specialists in PreK-12 education, to provide effective literacy and language arts instruction and interventions. The program also prepares candidates for literacy work in community colleges, industry, adult education programs, commercial education centers and private practice.

The program will prepare you to:

• Provide specialized literacy instruction and assessment, in cooperation with other professionals, to students at all levels
• Improve classroom practices in literacy and language arts and content areas
• Provide literacy intervention services individually and in small groups 
• Communicate with colleagues, parents and the community about literacy issues, and conduct professional development workshops on literacy topics
• Coach and mentor colleagues
• Interpret policy proposals and literacy research
• Advocate for best practices in literacy curriculum and instruction
• Advocate for differently abled learners, multilingual learners and equitable literacy practices

About the Program

The 36-unit program is developmental in design鈥攇rowing your knowledge and experience as you move through the program while you apply newly developed skills and strategies in literacy education settings. Courses are offered part-time, sequentially, in the evening, and in online, in-person and hybrid formats. 

• Nine required courses and three electives
• Coursework in curriculum design and instruction, diagnostic assessment and instructional interventions, and professional development and leadership
• Elective concentration pathways that include:
  • Teaching Multilingual Learners- prepares you for Praxis II ESOL exam and MSDE TESOL endorsement 
  • National Board Certification: prepares you for National Board Certification exam
