Climate Change & Community Resilience Major
The B.S. in Climate Change and Community Resilience (CCCR) takes an interdisciplinary approach to one of the most pressing challenges of our time.
Sitting at the intersection of environmental justice and climate preparedness, the program combines essential elements one would expect from a climate science degree: physical climate science with socio-economic analysis of unequal vulnerabilities 鈥� equipping graduates to lead planning and community activism efforts that prepare society for a changing climate.
About the Program
Geography鈥檚 interdisciplinary lens is uniquely suited to address both the physical and human dimensions of climate change. The CCCR program develops the vision, creativity and adaptability graduates need to craft solutions that enrich the culture, society, economy and environment of Maryland and the region.
Students learn to interpret environmental data, analyze unequal community vulnerabilities, and apply geospatial technologies 鈥� building skills directly aligned with Towson University's mission of fostering intellectual inquiry and preparing effective leaders for the public good.
Degree Requirements
View in the Undergraduate Catalog. Lower-division courses build foundational knowledge in physical and human geography, geospatial technology, and urban planning. Upper-division courses then form the specialized core, followed by elective courses chosen across climate, physical environment, planning, and policy and politics.
