Our occupational therapy program teaches students to restore, reinforce and enhance performance through meaningful activities or occupations that help individuals learn the skills and functions required to take care of themselves, be productive and improve overall health and well-being. Our programs are earning national recognition for developing competent, ethical and empathetic occupational therapy practitioners and occupational scientists who are improving the health and working lives of individuals and communities.

In the Field

Students in the department benefit from diverse fieldwork experiences at world-renowned medical institutions, local and regional school systems, skilled nursing facilities, mental health facilities, rehabilitation centers, and in community-based programs.  You will also gain hands on experience at the Occupational Therapy Center and the Hussman Center for Adults with Autism, both located within Towson's Institute for Well-Being. You will have the unique opportunity to demonstrate professional competencies under the supervision of a qualified occupational therapy practitioner in these settings.
