Biography
Dr. McMahand鈥檚 research pivots between literary analysis and political debate and addresses the emerging theme of black self-destruction in political and Cultural Studies discourse. In his teaching, Dr. McMahand takes as his guiding beacon Alice Walker鈥檚 instruction that 鈥済ood teaching [is] a circle of earnest people sitting down to ask each other meaningful questions.鈥� Prior to joining the English department at Towson University, Dr. McMahand was assistant professor of English at Tennessee State University.
